Illegal Vessel Landing

The Ministry of Immigration, Citizenship, Labour and Employment Services confirms that an illegal vessel landed in North West Point, Providenciales on the early morning of Sunday March 29, 2019.
The Ministry and more specifically the Immigration Department is also investigating another possible landing near the Lil Bluff, Providenciales.

In commenting on this incident, Hon Vaden Williams, Minister of Immigration, Citizenship, Labour and Employment Services stated that these are very unfortunate landings and that his Ministry shall do everything within its power, to bring all those responsible to justice.

These illegal migrant landings come amidst the emergency controls and curfew enacted over the past few days as counter actions to COVID - 19. These unfortunate and calculated illegal acts poses additional challenges for all concerned.

The public is encouraged to report any unusual movement of persons immediately to 911.

The Ministry has taken steps to contain persons apprehended while ensuring the safety and well-being of Officers and others engaged in these efforts at this time.

The Enforcement agencies of the Turks and Caicos Islands are again asking anyone with information concerning planned and landed arrival of other vessels to contact the Police anonymously on 911 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1-800-8477.

The public is also reminded that it is an offence to harbour illegal persons and that persons found guilty engaging in such activities are liable to a fine of US$20,000 or a term of imprisonment of four years, or both in accordance with Section 99 of the Immigration Ordinance 2015.
