ATTORNEY GENERAL’S CHAMBERS ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE OFFICIAL REVISED EDITION OF THE LAWS OF THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS PHOTO COMPETITION
Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands – Monday, 11th May 2026: Hon. Rhondalee Braithwaite Knowles OBE KC is pleased to announce the winners of the Official Revised Edition of the Laws of the Turks and Caicos Islands Photo Competition, which was open from 16 to 27 February 2026.
The competition invited students across the Turks and Caicos Islands, including the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College (“TCICC”) to submit photographs showcasing the beauty, culture, and unique landmarks of the Turks and Caicos Islands for inclusion on the official publication and cover photo of the soon-to-be-released, Revised Edition of the Laws of the Turks and Caicos Islands USB and online version.
Following careful consideration of all entries received, the Attorney General’s Chambers is delighted to announce the following winners:
First Place winner, Ms. Margaret Lewis, a TCICC student, for her photo of The Boiling Hole, South Caicos. Ms. Lewis’ captivating photograph of the Boiling Hole in South Caicos was selected as the winning image because of its vibrant colours and depiction of a national landmark. It will appear on the cover page.
Second Place winner is Ms. Akeela Alexander Valdez, another TCICC student, for her photo of the T-shaped Black Rocks in the Sea along the beautiful white sandy beaches and brilliant sea blues.
Third Place winner is Mr. Nathan Williams, also a TCICC student, for his photo of The Lighthouse, Grand Turk, another culturally significant landmark.
Prizes were presented to the winners at brief ceremonies held this week at the Attorney General’s Chambers locations on Providenciales and Grand Turk, where winners were formally recognised. The presentations celebrated the creativity and talent demonstrated by the students and highlighted the importance of community engagement in preserving and showcasing the natural beauty and heritage of the Turks and Caicos Islands through photography.
The Hon. Attorney General, Rhondalee Braithwaite Knowles OBE KC extended sincere thanks to the Chief Parliamentary Counsel, Dr. Gogontle Gatang-McCartney and the Legislative Drafting Division of her Chambers for this worthy community focused initiative for the youth of the Turks and Caicos Islands as a means of bringing them closer to the production of the Laws of the Islands and as a means of showcasing the historical and culturally significant places in the Islands. She also congratulated all three winners and expressed appreciation to each and every participant who contributed to the success of the competition. The Hon. Attorney General also thanked all of the participating educational institutions across the Turks and Caicos Islands, especially the TCICC for such strong support and encouragement of student participation in this initiative.
