MINISTRY OF EDUCATION ANNOUNCES 2020 INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEES
The Ministry of Education, Youth, Culture, Social & Library Services is pleased to publish the complete list of recipients of the 2020 Scholarship awards to complete tertiary level studies. The Education Advisory Committee met during August to review all international applications received on or before the application deadline of 31st May, 2020.
The following sixty-two (62) international awardees were successful based on the identified priority areas, grade point averages and other policy related criteria. In total, the Educational Advisory Committee considered one hundred and fifty-six applicants (156) applications for further study, regionally and internationally.
The Hon. Karen Malcolm, Ministry of Education, Youth, Culture, Social and Library Services, extends a profound thank you to all the members of the Education Advisory Committee for their dedication to complete this year’s review of applications, and subsequent list of awardees.
Hon. Karen Malcolm, Minister of Education, Youth, Culture, Social and Library Services states, “Congratulations to all recipients of a scholarship award this year. My Government values education and is investing in it. I am pleased with the scholarship awardees as we are providing greater opportunities for Turks and Caicos Islanders to help meet their goals of becoming who they want to be whilst making a contribution to society. These awards demonstrate my Government’s commitment towards and providing future leaders of the Turks and Caicos Islands. The areas of Health and Business Studies received the majority of the scholarship awards this year. We recognized the achievements of students who have performed well academically, however, I must also encourage the applicants who did not receive a scholarship award this year. Please do not let this set back deter you from achieving your dreams. Do not give up. Apply next year.”
The Ministry urges applicants who may not have been successful to re-apply to the Secretariat for possible consideration in the future.
Award letters will be available as of September 15st 2020. Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic letters will be emailed to ALL scholarship applicants, including scholarship awardees and those that were not successful this year.
