TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS REGIMENT INTERCEPTS VESSEL CARRYING 143 IRREGULAR MIGRANTS IN COORDINATED MARITIME OPERATION

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, 23 March 2026 — The Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) Regiment Maritime Troop, in a highly coordinated maritime support operation alongside the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) and multi-agency partners, successfully intercepted a vessel within territorial waters on the night of Friday, March 20, 2026.

At approximately 8:34 p.m., Regiment personnel executed a tactical interception of the craft, ensuring the immediate stabilization of the vessel and the safety of all individuals on board. The operation was completed without incident or injury.

The group of 143 irregular migrants comprised:

  • 122 adult males
  • 3 male minors
  • 18 females

Following the successful maritime interdiction, all 143 individuals were transferred to the custody of the Turks and Caicos Islands Border Force. The migrants are currently being held at the Detention Centre pending further investigation and processing in accordance with the laws of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

This operation underscores the TCI Regiment’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Islands. Through an elevated operational posture and seamless collaboration with local and regional partners, the Regiment continues to prioritize national security and the protection of our maritime borders.
