Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, 23 March 2026 — The Department of Tourism Regulations has made significant headway in our latest initiative to broaden TIDES Training compliance among frontline Public Service sector officials, with the onboarding of staff at the Department of Environment and Coastal Resources (DECR) and the Turks & Caicos National Trust.
This effort reflects the country’s ongoing commitment to strengthening service delivery and safeguarding the quality of the Turks and Caicos Islands’ world‑renowned tourism product. The training typically utilises immersive and interactive techniques such as role‑play, scenario-based learning, and audio‑visual presentations. These methods were specifically chosen to support diverse learning styles and enhance real-world application for frontline staff.
Jasmine Thomas, Executive Director of the Turks and Caicos Islands, commenting on the TIDES initiative, emphasised the importance of active involvement in culture and cultural heritage. She noted that “engaging in and preserving cultural traditions helps strengthen national identity, fosters community pride, and ensures that the rich heritage of the Turks and Caicos Islands is passed on to future generations.”
D.E.C.R Director Luc Clerveaux said, “We are proud to have participated in the T.I.D.E.S. programme hosted by the Department of Tourism and Regulations. It was imperative that our staff become ambassadors of the Turks and Caicos Islands, especially as we interface with members of the public from local and international communities. Through the T.I.D.E.S. programme, we were better able to deliver well-informed, high-quality customer service.
Commenting on the Initiative, DTR Director Avi Adams said the following: “We remain committed to building capacity across government agencies through the TIDES Program. This initiative is an integral part of the country’s national Quality Assurance framework, and partnering with departments such as DECR and the National Trust contributes to the ongoing push for greater sustainability and cultural preservation awareness amongst stakeholders.”
