Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Wednesday, 28 April 2026: The Ministry and Department of Education, in collaboration with valued partners and sponsors, are proud to announce the staging of the National Primary Schools Spelling Bee Competition 2026, set to take place on Thursday, 7 May 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages & Spa.
Sponsored by F Chambers and Island Printing, Beaches Turks & Caicos, and Mr. Groupers, this highly anticipated national event continues to celebrate academic excellence, literacy development, and student achievement across the Turks and Caicos Islands.
This year’s competition will feature 14 outstanding primary schools, each represented by a dedicated participant and coach:

- Ashley’s Learning Center – Wilbens Henrius (Coach: Ms. Michelle Brathwaite)

- Eliza Simons Primary School – Nemiah Malcolm (Coach: Mrs. Katia Wallock-Robinson)
- Enid Capron Primary School – Hadassah Teger (Coach: Mrs. Elizabeth Vandenburg)
- Ianthe Pratt Primary School – Adonarim Pierre (Coach: Mrs. Wilnide Julmiste-Dorely)
- Ona Glinton Primary School – Raul Barrientos Diaz (Coach: Ms. Abigail Ambritton)

These young spellers have demonstrated exceptional commitment, discipline, and academic ability in preparation for this prestigious national competition.
Building on the success of previous years, the National Primary Schools Spelling Bee continues to serve as a platform for enhancing vocabulary development, strengthening literacy skills, and fostering confidence among students. The competition not only highlights spelling proficiency but also promotes critical thinking, focus, and a lifelong love for learning.
Members of the public are invited to tune in and support this exciting event. The competition will be broadcast live via Radio Turks and Caicos (RTC) for radio coverage, as well as streamed live on the Turks and Caicos Islands Government’s and the Department of Education’s Facebook pages, allowing audiences across the islands to experience the event in real time.
Hon. Rachel Taylor Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture, praised the participants and organizers and sponsors, noting that the National Primary Schools Spelling Bee continues to reflect the Ministry’s commitment to literacy and academic excellence. She also expressed that: “This competition continues to builds confidence, discipline, and a love for learning among our students. I commend the young spellers, their teachers, coaches, and families for the dedication and hard work that led them to this national stage. Events like this remind us of the potential within our classrooms and the importance of investing in strong foundations for literacy.”
