Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, Monday, 20th July 2026 - The Turks and Caicos Islands Government notes the press release issued by InterHealth Canada earlier today, which was published without the Government’s prior consent or comment.
InterHealth Canada has purported to terminate its contract with the Turks and Caicos Islands Government. The Government is urgently reviewing the position.
The Government wishes to reassure all hospital staff, patients, residents, and visitors that there is no interruption to healthcare services. Services remain in place, patients should continue to attend appointments and seek treatment as normal, and the Government is taking all necessary steps to ensure the continued delivery of safe, stable, and effective healthcare services across the Islands. This remains its utmost priority.
The Government notes InterHealth Canada’s public assurance that it will continue providing healthcare services to ensure continuity of care. The Government welcomes that assurance.
The allegations made in the press release regarding non-payment and InterHealth Canada’s performance of its obligations are misleading and inaccurate. The Government has paid all clinical costs due throughout the period referenced in InterHealth Canada’s press release and will continue to do so for continued services. Any sums withheld by the Government relate to contractual performance issues concerning InterHealth Canada’s estates services. These are private contractual matters, and it would not be appropriate for the Government to comment further on them publicly at this stage.
