Department of Library Service virtual Read-a-Thon 2020

The Department of Library Services within the Ministry of Education, Youth, Culture, Social and Library Services will be hosting its first virtual Read-a-thon from August 10-14, 2020 under the theme “E-Book: the new Look” 

The format for the Competition has been adjusted due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the need to adhere to the various protocols issued by Ministry of Health. The goals of the Competition though remains the same, which is to promote the habit of reading, introduce children to a wide variety of reading materials and encourage them to develop a love for books.

The Competition is opened to students throughout Turks and Caicos between the ages of 6-14 years old across three sub age groups (6-8, 9-11 and 12-14). For the first time this year the titles to be read will only be available online on the EBSCO database to which the Ministry of Education maintains a subscription. Participants will be asked to select e-titles from the list that will be prepared and submit book reports on a designated form.
